GOOD CHANGES? WE'LL SEE...

What is happening in the Fashion World? Tiredness, monotony,or...controversy? Several changes are happening right now in this impredictable world, an amazing designer leaves his fashion house, an other great one is dismissed, and a big woman leaves her magazine. Three important people that, for one or another reason, have changed their jobs (or have been "invited" out, who knows...). Three people, three different reasons, but are changes good?

Carine's last cover/Emmanuelle's first cover
The first unexpected news arrived on December, the editor in chief of French Vogue announced that she left the magazine. Nobody could understand why the most influencing editor in chief could do that. Some people said that she wanted to change her job and do something new, as she said, but did she say the truth? Some newspapers said that she was "invited" to leave the magazine because of her polemical reports, specially the December one, in which three little girls were photographed like models in ambiguous positions. They also said that she was a bit posesive. Maybe she was pressurized, or maybe, the situation becames so ugly that she decided that the best solution was to resign from Vogue. Now, Emmanuelle Alt, the ex-fashion director of French Vogue, is the new editor in chief. She has already edited her first Vogue issue and it seems "the same but different", as she has said.

Another surprising news arrived on March, John Galliano was fired by Christian Dior. Nobody could imagine so terrible news, specially when we discovered the reason of his dimissal, racist coments based on his love for Hitler. He was video recorded in a Parisian bar, he was drunk and said anti-Semitic comments to two Italian women. He was inmidiately diminissed by Dior, and take to court, then he was sent to rehab. Now, Ricardo Tisci seems to be his sucessor, but is he going to be better than Galliano? I don't think so. Galliano is one of the best designers I know, and I'm not very sure about the change. However, it's completely necessary since we cannot admit these type of racist coments nowadays.

Finally, some days ago, a sudden news reached us, Christophe Decarnin left Balmain. Stress and ilness seemed to be the causes why this amazing designer had left the label. However, it was not something new because last March he didn't attend his catwalk show, fact that made us suspect that things went wrong. Now, the future of the fashion house is not clear since we don't know who is going to be the new designer who will replace him. And we don't either know if the label is going to keep its characteristic jackets, its leather pants, and its rock style. Maybe not, it depends on the new sucessor and his style, something that won't make his followers happy, thousands of girls and fashion editors who adore Balmain's rock style, and who are going to miss his clothes so much.

Sometimes, changes are good, others they aren't, only time will say. Now, we all are impacient to see which way will take French Vogue, and what new ideas will bring Dior and Balmain. I'm sure that more people will buy "new" Vogue, and that more people will be waiting for the new Dior and Balmain collections. This is good, for sure. So, they have got one thing: they are more appealing now. As we can see changes are not so bad, at least for the moment.

Great post, regarding Galliano/Decarnin, it's sad how vicious and stressfully soul-destroying the industry can be.
